Laura Jayne (Alyea) Wallace
of Bremerton/Belfair
Nov. 16, 1955 to Sept. 19, 2009
Jaynie Wallace went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, September 19, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed.
Jayne was born Laura Jayne Alyea on November 16, 1955, to Joann and Jay Alyea. She grew up in Poulsbo with her brothers and graduated from North Kitsap High School and Olympic College. Jayne married her husband, Merrill Wallace II, on April 3, 1982, at her mother and stepfather's home and they became a family with her stepson Merrill Wallace III. They added to their family in March 1991 when son Elliott was born. Jayne had an active and rewarding career working at Kitsap Physicians Services/Bremerton and Washington State Health Care Authority/Olympia. Jayne retired when her illness became a full-time fight.
Jayne was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago and started the most difficult fight of her life. Jayne never complained but used her time and energy speaking to groups giving hope and encouragement to others fighting the same battle and being a mother to the local youth. Her words and encouragement will live on in the people whose lives she touched. Her life was cut short and the world is a lesser place because of that loss. Jayne's main focus of her life was her Lord, her family and dear friends. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She adored her family and was adored back. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and her beauty on the outside was only overshadowed by the beauty on the inside.
Jayne is survived by her precious husband, Merrill; sons, Merrill III and Elliott; father, Jay Alyea and stepmother Helen; stepfather, Merle Crain; brothers, Don Alyea and Ken Alyea; grandchildren, Zoey, Abby and Ethan Wallace; stepbrothers and stepsisters; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joann Alyea Crain. A celebration of life will be held at Newlifekitsap Church on Sunday, October 4, at 2 p.m., located at the Central Kitsap School District's Klahowya Secondary School, 7607 Newberry Hill Rd, Silverdale, WA, 98383. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Jaynie's memory to the Newlifekitsap Church; Jayne Wallace, Newlifekitsap Leadership Scholarship Fund, PO. Box 3943, Silverdale, WA, 98383.
Jaynie was a princess. She was such a leader and so beautiful inside and out. She was the best friend anyone could ever ask for and she had the most giving, loving and kind heart. Forever missed, but thankfully, I KNOW I will see her again in Heaven. - Norene Hansen Reeves

JANICE BREUER BARNHART , 49
Janice Evelyn Barnhart
December 31, 1955 To June 24, 2005
Janice Evelyn Barnhart, 49, of Poulsbo died Friday, June 24th, after eight years of fighting breast cancer with great strength and courage.
Born to Clarence J. and Donna (Skog) Breuer in Duluth, Minnesota, she was her father's only baby girl, but had no problem holding her own with her four boisterous brothers. The family moved to Carmichael, California when she was eight. She was attending LaSierra High School when they moved to Poulsbo, where she graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1974. She then moved to Southern California, where she worked for eight years before moving back to Poulsbo. She started her career in federal employment at Port Hueneme and spent many years at PSNS and Bangor.
She married Doug Barnhart on August 19th, 1989. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Katelyn Rose and Linnea Kristine. These two girls were the light of her life. All of her activities centered on them, as she lovingly sought to lay the groundwork and foundation for their lives. They enjoyed time spent together camping, and the family's favorite vacation spot was Disneyland. Imaginative and sentimental, Janice used her beloved family photographs and her collection of rubber stamps to create numerous treasures, from greeting cards to intricately embellished scrapbooks. She loved decorating her home, especially on the holidays, with the many things she and her girls made. She was a vigilant Girl Scout leader, and an enthusiastic member of Vinland Lutheran Church. She was involved with the Busy Mom's Bible Study and many other church groups.
Concerned with how her illness might affect her children, she and her husband worked hard to keep a semblance of normalcy in the household throughout her long struggle with cancer. It was accomplished only with the help of her extraordinary friends, family, and Vinland family. She was truly loved by all. Her school friends, Cindy, Julie, Noreen, Jane, Kathleen, Jeff and Shirley were her Night Angels, nursing her throughout the nights on her last week on this earth. Her entire family was there when a bright ray of sunshine shone onto her early Friday morning as, surrounded by those she loved, the Lord opened heaven's gates and welcomed her home.
She leaves behind her husband, Douglas, daughters Katelyn and Linnea, and her parents Donna and Clarence Breuer of Poulsbo. Her brothers and their families: Craig and Nancy of Monroe, their children Leslie, Ashley, and Cory, Michael and Michelle of Poulsbo, their children William, Janelle, Helecia and Brandon, Kevin of Poulsbo, his children Colby, Franchesca, and Cavin (Rusty), and Jeffrey of Poulsbo. Also her in-laws Elaine and Duane Barnhart of Sequim, brother-in-law Dale of Southern California and four aunts: Margaret of Fair Oaks, California, and Dorothy, Johanna and Evelyn, all of Duluth, Minnesota.
The family would like to thank Janice's Vinland family, who provided transportation for the children, never-ending meals, prayers and support of all kinds, and her many friends, including her Night Angels. Thanks to Group Health Hospice for providing exceptional care, and thanks to the radiation/oncology lab in Bremerton for their phenomenal diligence and consideration. She was truly blessed.

***************************************************KEVIN BURDICK, 54
Kevin James Burdick
of Poulsbo
June 4, 1956 to Feb. 5, 2011
Veteran
Kevin James Burdick lost his 9 month battle with esophageal cancer on February 5th, 2011.
He was born on June 4, 1956 in Issaquah, WA to William D & Elsie Burdick. At age 4 his family moved to Poulsbo and he attended local schools, graduating from high school in 1974. After completing high school Kevin followed in his father's footsteps & enlisted in the Marine Corps; having achieved the rank of Lance Corporal he was honorably discharged in 1980.
On Valentine's Day 1980 he married Jill Thyholt and both agreed life truly began for both of them! They were blessed with one Son, Bill in 1984.
These are the facts of his life but do not express the outstanding husband, father & friend he was. A more humble, loving person you'll never meet. A true "jack of all trades" he was always in demand in the Poulsbo area. Kevin often learned new trades to take another job or perform an existing job more effectively.
Loved by everyone he knew, Kevin was a family man like no other who put his family above all else. He regularly worked 80-hour weeks to maintain his family's quality of life, when time off for sickness or injury would have meant a loss of home or medical care.
His 9 month illness allowed many to say their goodbyes - but it still seems way too soon for him to be gone. His wife & son were blessed to be with him until the end & will miss him until God sees fit to join us together again.
He is survived by his loving Wife Jill, Son Bill, Mother Elsie, Brother Dave (Jerry), his Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and hundreds of friends.

"Bill and I were born in the same hospital in Hawthorne, Nevada. Our families moved from there to California and then to Washington when we were only third graders. Bill was the first boy I ever married when I was 6 years old, wearing a curtain on my head as a veil. Bill was a person that you could call anytime you needed to for advice or support. He was very level headed and took responsibility seriously. He was the oldest in his family and managed his many brothers and one sister. He was the 'rock' in their family next to his mother. He had a warm and giving heart and his death caused a serous wound within our network of family and friends. He has been missed greatly and I think of him often." -Marilyn Love Thayer (Hampton)
"Bill DeWalt loved to play practical jokes better than anyone and he loved to laugh, even all the way to the end. He was a true and loyal friend and I miss him still." - Norene Hansen Reeves
"Never a dull moment when Bill was around. Oh, the mischief we could / did create!" -Craig Salt
"Ya know...the one I have the most memories of is Bill DeWalt. He lived right down the hill from us and had the absolutely BEST sense of humor. Always made me laugh." - Denice Caseria
William "Bill" Howard DeWalt passed away August 28, 1988.... Judy Long and Donny Munn send a balloon off in memory of Bill at our 30th reunion.
